Arrival of the Addergoole Dug-out canoe, Lurgan, Co. Galway, at the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology in the summer of 1902The view is from inside the grounds of Leinster House, looking across Kildare Street towards Molesworth Street. The canoe was brought by rail to Dublin and from the station to Kildare Street on specially linked carts pulled by horses. The canoe has been radio-carbon dated to about 2200 BC, making it one of the oldest specimens known. It was carved from a huge oak tree and was paddles probably by as many as half a dozen kneeling warriors possibly on a parade occasion.
