Pensioner Royal Hospital Kilmainham
Item Description
Pensioner Royal Hospital Kilmainham
British Army
Soldiers of Ireland designed, cast and painted exclusively for The National Museum of Ireland by Peadar Collins.
The Royal Hospital Kilmainham served as a home for old soldiers until 1927, when the pensioners were transferred to Chelsea. Some of the uniforms survive, namely the scarlet coat, which differed from that worn by the Chelsea pensioner.
