Sterling Silver. The Sundisc Collection is commissioned by the National Museum from Breda Haugh, Dublin jeweller and designer and they are hallmarked at Dublin Castle. The inspiration comes from the Early Bronze Age sun discs that can be seen in our 'Ór - Ireland's Gold' exhibition at the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology. Here you can see the original circular discs made of sheet gold that are finely decorated with chevrons, ridges and dots. They were made between 2400 BC - 1800 BC. The Sundisc Collection brings these delicate ancient pieces to a modern and wearable context. The diameter of each cufflink is 1.5cm.
