This White Queen chess piece is crafted in resin to resemble an ivory finish. It is a reproduction of one of the chess pieces that were found in 1831 on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Here, a local shepherd found a small chamber of dry-built stone about 4.5 metres below the top of a sandbank that had been partially washed away by the sea. The chess pieces discovered within the chamber are the oldest complete set of chessmen ever found and are believed to date to 12th century Norwegian origin. This is a great gift suitable for a desktop, shelf or sideboard. H 8.6cm W 4cm D 3cm.
