Michael Collins 1922 Model Soldier. Born in west Cork, Michael Collins was a farmer's son who changed the course of Irish history. He fought in the 1916 Easter Rising, planned the guerilla war that brought the British governmnet to its knees, and helped to negogiate the treaty that led to the Irish Civil War. He became a minister in the first Irish government and Commander-in-Chief of the Irish army. In the end, he was betrayed by his former comarades in a fatal ambush.
